Richard Woodard for decanter.com -Burgundy-based wine producer Boisset has completed the acquisition of rival négociant Antonin Rodet for an undisclosed sum.
Confirmation of the deal's completion came a month after decanter.com reported that Boisset was in exclusive talks with Sequana Capital, an investment holding company and the owner of Rodet.
The acquisition cements Boisset's position as Burgundy's biggest wine producer, and the fifth largest fine wine company in France. The company already owns names including Bouchard Aîné et Fils, Domaine de la Vougeraie, Jaffelin and Ropiteau.
Rodet is located in the Côte Chalonnaise area of Burgundy, and also owns Nuits-St-Georges-based Dufouleur Père et Fils as well as 90 hectares of vineyard.
'Antonin Rodet's location in the Côte Chalonnaise, along with the strong reputation of its wines, will allow Boisset a greater presence in the region, thus rounding out its commercial range both in France and worldwide,' said a Boisset spokesperson.

The Rodet purchase follows Boisset's acquisition of Napa Valley winery Raymond Vineyard & Cellar in August, adding to a US portfolio which also includes De Loach Vineyards, Lyeth Estate and Fog Mountain.
Boisset also bought Société Gabriel Meffre, owner of brands La Chasse du Pape and Fat Bastard, in March this year.
