Lucy Shaw -  South African winery Nederberg has launched a range of wines in association with FIFA for the 2010 World Cup.  The Paarl-based winery signed an agreement with FIFA allowing them to market a range of wines in time for the World Cup, held across South Africa next year.  Capitalising on the pre-tournament buzz, winemaker Razvan Macici developed a limited-edition hat-trick of wines; a Cabernet Sauvignon, a Sauvignon Blanc and a Rosé, released internationally this month.

‘Given our association with such an important sporting initiative, we want the wines to serve as ambassadors for South African excellence’, Macici said.   ‘We have prioritised those markets where there is a strong interest in football but that distribution could be extended to meet demand’, added Nederberg marketing manager Rudolph du Toit.  The range will span the 2007 to 2010 vintages and will cost between £4.50 to £6.
