by Adam Lechmere – Sogrape, Portugal’s largest wine company, has made a full acquisition of wine merchant Stevens Garnier.
Sogrape Vinhos, one of its first agencies, is Portugal’s biggest wine company, with a turnover of €185m and 1300ha of vineyards.
Its holdings include Callabriga, Sandeman, Mateus and Quinta Azeveda in Portugal as well as Finca Flichman in Argentina, Framingham in New Zealand and Chateau Los Boldos in Chile.
Sogrape is planning further investment in the Oxford-based firm, it said in a press release.
Sogrape president Salvador Guedes said, ‘Stevens Garnier and Sogrape have a long-standing and successful partnership in the UK and Sogrape is delighted to make a full acquisition of the company.
‘We are committed to investing in the company’s future to the benefit of all the brand owners and customers.’
