“Fashionable and Leading Varieties in International Wine Cultivation” at the Tasting Zone
Several thousand grape varieties are cultivated worldwide, covering a wide range of regional specialities through to internationally widespread varieties. For most consumers grape variety is the key criterion when choosing a wine. The central tasting zone in Hall 2 of ProWein 2013 is devoted to this theme so key for the market and retailers. Under the heading “Fashionable and Leading Varieties in International Wine Cultivation” wines will be offered for tasting from ProWein exhibitors from throughout the world. There will be eight white and eight red wines approved here that are in the spotlight of the international wine sector. Visitors can experience with their own senses the great diversity of wines demonstrated by these varieties. The approved white wine varieties are Riesling, Chardonnay, Sauvignon Blanc, Grauburgunder (Pinot Grigio) and Weißburgunder (Pinot Blanc) as well as Grüner Veltliner, Viognier and Verdejo. The red wines must derive solely from Pinot Noir, Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Shiraz, Grenache, Sangiovese, Tempranillo/Tinta Roriz and Blaufränkisch/Lemberger.
Organic Wines now with their own Dedicated Tasting Zone
In addition to the Central Tasting Zone in Hall 2, Hall 7.1 will once again feature a special tasting zone for award-winning organic wines. This will form part of the concentrated platform for organic wines rated so highly by visitors to ProWein 2012. The line-up in this tasting zone will include exhibitors from France, Spain, Italy and South Africa.
