by Decanter.com staff – A panel of world experts will come together in Hong Kong next week to discover exactly how wine is bought, consumed and understood by Chinese wine aficionados. At the Decanter seminar, ‘Discovering the Chinese wine lover’, at Vinexpo Asia-Pacific, Decanter publishing director Sarah Kemp, Decanter.com and DecanterChina.com editor John Abbott and a panel of experts will look at exactly how Chinese enthusiasts buy, drink and learn about wine.
The seminar will look at which wines are popular at retail as well as in restaurants, and how important, or not, the matching of food and wine is. The panel will also look at the level of wine education available and what media trends are emerging. Finally, to coincide with the launch of www.decanterchina.com, Decanter will reveal the results of exclusive research on attitudes towards buying en primeur in China.
With Sarah Kemp and John Abbott, panel members are Fongyee Walker of Dragon Phoenix Consulting, Alberto Fernandez, managing partner of Torres China, Ch’ng Poh Ting, publisher of The Wine Review, and Yang Lu, sommelier at the Shanghai Peninsula.
Discovering the Chinese wine lover takes place in English and Chinese, at Vinexpo Asia-Pacific, Hong Kong, Wednesday 30 May from 14.30 to 16.00 in Room 111/112 – Level 1.
