Olivier Bernard, President of the Union des Grands Crus de Bordeaux, has confirmed the success of the presentation of the 2012 vintage on the 9th, 10th and 11th of April 2013.

The Union welcomed some 6,000 professionals from the media and the wine trade, amounting to 17,500 visits to the 7 châteaux representing the major fine wine regions in Bordeaux (Ch. Phélan Ségur for Saint-Julien, Pauillac and Saint-Estèphe; Ch. Labégorce for Margaux; Ch. Fourcas-Hosten for Moulis, Listrac, Médoc and the Haut Médoc; Ch. Olivier for the Graves & Pessac-Léognan; Ch. Soutard for Saint-Emilion; Ch. La Conseillante for Pomerol and Ch. La Lagune for Barsac and Sauternes).

These figures reflect a 7% increase compared to last year.

The presence of foreign visitors was also very strong this year!

67 of the main markets for exports of great Bordeaux wines were represented. Visitors came from (in numerical order): the United Kingdom, Switzerland, the USA, Germany, China, Belgium, Spain, Hong Kong and Japan.

Futures sales of the 2012 vintage began on Monday the 15th of April, although consumers will not be able to taste the new vintage before 2014.

This En Primeur Week has been organised by the Union des Grands Crus de Bordeaux since its creation in 1973. For this fortieth anniversary, the UGCB can be proud of one of its greatest successes, whose impact benefits the entire Bordeaux wine industry.
