Mallorca Regional Wine: 49% increase of sales in 2010

2010 was a very positive year for Mallorca Regional Wine marketing.  Sales showed a 49% increase and total wine sales volume reached 12.240  hectolitres.

Sales growth was general for all types of wine, with increases between 42%  and 51%. Red wines were the most representative with 74% of total wine marketed volume and 9.052 hectolitres.

White wines followed with 20% of total Mallorca Regional Wine sales reaching 2.468 hectolitres. And finally rosés, which represented 6%, with 720 hectolitres marketed.

Sigi Hiss – Etwas belustigt nahm ich die Meldung von Wein+Markt zu Kenntnis, dass Aldi mit einem 2011er Weißwein in der Werbung ist.  Irgendwie hat mich das dann doch nicht losgelassen & ich habe etwas gegoogelt. Tatsächlich Aldi preist den folgenden Wein zu € 2,49 an. DLG prämiert wohlgemerkt. Noch Fragen?………………

The Decanter team – Steven Spurrier in the Medoc and Graves, James Lawther on the Right Bank, and Michel Bettane in Sauternes – give their verdicts on one of the most talked-about vintages of the last 10 years.

All are unequivocal: Bordeaux 2010 is an exceptional vintage. ‘Only time will tell if it is better than 2009,’ Lawther says, adding that the wines of 2010 are more ‘classically’ defined.
