VOGTSBURG-BISCHOFFINGEN. Das Weingut Abril in Vogtsburg-Bischoffingen (Kaiserstuhl) hat am 4. Mai 2011 mit dem Spatenstich für den Neubau ein neues Kapitel in seiner mehr als 270-jährigen Geschichte aufgeschlagen. Einen Betrag in Höhe von 10,5 Mio. Euro investieren die Besitzer Erivan und Helga Haub am Ortsrand von Bischoffingen in das neue Gebäude. „Wir wollen die Ernte 2012 im Keller des Neubaus verarbeiten“, erklärte Armin Sütterlin, seit 2007 Geschäftsführer und Kellermeister des Weinguts, bei einem Pressegespräch.

‘The length of time temperatures were at or below freezing on April 8, 9 and 10 was the greatest the region has experienced in the last 10 years,’ Stacie Jacob, the Alliance’s executive director told Decanter.com

This is part of a three-year development plan for the Spanish company: by the end of 2013 it intends to have 62 Everwines retail outlets.

by Adam Lechmere - Two bottles of Champagne which lay for 200 years in the Baltic Sea come under the hammer in Finland in June.
They are part of a cache of 168 bottles found last summer in a wrecked schooner dating from the second quarter of the 19th century, in Finland’s Åland archipelago.
The name of the vessel is still unknown, as is its destination, but it is thought the cargo was bound for the court of the Russian Emperor Nicholas I in St Petersburg.
The bottles were pronounced ‘very much alive and remarkably fresh’ by Essi Avellan MW, editor of Finland’s FINE Champagne magazine, who tasted them last September.
The cache was first identified as Champagne Juglar, a house which was absorbed into Champagne Jacquesson in 1829.
Experts later found some bottles were Veuve Clicquot non-vintage from the early 1830s.

Mit insgesamt 311 angestellten Weinen aus Deutschland, Frankreich und der Schweiz verzeichnete der Gutedel Cup 2011 in diesem Jahr eine neue Rekordbeteiligung und bestätigte damit seine Sonderstellung als größte internationale Gutedelprämierung. „Der Wettbewerb hat sich einmal mehr als einzigartiges Schaufenster präsentiert, das die ganze Breite und Vielfalt der Geschmacksstile des Gutedels zeigt“, betonte Claudia Schlumberger-Bernhart, die Vorsitzende des Markgräfler Wein e.V., der den Wettbewerb seit dem Jahr 1996 organisiert.
