Franz-Josef Gritsch, Winzer aus Spitz, greift 2009, damals noch Vinea-Wachau-Mitglied, den Verein öffentlich an und wird daraufhin wegen vereinsschädigenden Verhaltens ausgeschlossen. Die für die Mitgliedsbetriebe geschützten Vinea-Wachau-Marken Steinfeder, Federspiel und Smaragd benützt er dennoch weiter.

Regarded as one of Asia’s pre-eminent authorities on wine, Jeannie Cho Lee was the first Asian to be awarded the Master of Wine in 2008. Her book, Asian Palate, was short-listed for the Andre Simon award and won the Gourmand Award for the Best Food and Wine Pairing book in the World.
Harvard graduate Cho Lee is a well-known figure on the international wine scene. She is a lecturer, educator and international wine judge, including the Decanter World Wine Awards.
Since 1996 she has specialised in food and wine writing, (she is the holder of Certificat de Cuisine from Cordon Bleu Paris) and is a regular contributor to Decanter Taiwan

by Regine Lee – Christie’s will offer mixed cases of bottles from Decanter’s 2010 World Wine Awards as part of a fine wine auction this week to benefit WaterAid. WaterAid has partnered Christie’s and Decanter since 2005 through its ‘Wine into Water’ initiative, in which extra bottles of wine submitted to the World Wine Awards are auctioned to the public, with all proceeds going to WaterAid. The non-governmental organisation provides some of the world’s poorest people with access to clean water, improved sanitation and hygiene education.

by Lucy Shaw – Olivier Bernard, head of renowned Graves property Domaine de Chevalier,
has bought a number of plots in Pessac-Léognan to be used in a new wine project.
Bernard, who has presided over Chevalier for most of his adult life, recently snapped up 15ha of land in the Bordeaux region, to be extended to 25ha, that is currently cleared and awaiting planting. He is also on the brink of signing for another 18ha of uncleared land, planted with pines, and is aware of another 20ha plot for sale.
The plan is to slowly incorporate the 25ha plot into the neighbouring Château de la Solitude, to increase production at the property. Some of the grapes from the young vines will be used in the second wine of Château de la Solitude, but will not go into Domaine de Chevalier.
