Italian filmmaker Paolo Casalis and American broadcaster-author Evan Dawson join journalist-author George M. Taber as keynote speakers running workshops on video, photography, writing and oral reporting.

The 2011 European Wine Bloggers’ Conference (EWBC) will be held in the town of Brescia (Lombardia, northern Italy) from October 14 – 16, 2011. This year’s event takes storytelling as its theme: joining keynote speaker George M. Taber will be Italian filmmaker Paolo Casalis and American broadcaster-author Evan Dawson. 

Evan Dawson is the author of the best-selling book Summer in a Glass , as well as a contributor, Managing Editor and Finger Lakes editor of the New York Cork Report.

by Adam Lechmere, and Jane Anson in Bordeaux – Chateau Latour has finally released its 2010 in one allocation, according to reports.  The last of the first growths to release, Chateau Latour came out at €650 from the chateau, €780 per bottle from negociants.

This makes it the most expensive of the first growths, offering a very small amount of wine, 35% less than last year, and in one tranche only according to some sources in Bordeaux.

by Adam Lechmere – Chateau Pichon Lalande has confirmed it has appointed Philippe Moreau as its new technical director.1855 Chateaux

Moreau takes over from former Pichon boss Thomas Do Chi Nam, who has joined Chateau Margaux as technical director.  This followed the departure of Margaux winemaker Philippe Bascaules to work in Napa as Francis Ford Coppola’s estate manager and winemaker.

Moreau is currently technical director of Chateau de Pez and Chateau Bernadotte, both sister properties to Pichon in the Champagne Louis Roederer group. He will retain responsibility for both those properties in his new role, Pichon managing director Sylvie Cazes told Decanter.com.

She added that Moreau would be assisted by vineyard director François Taris and winemaker Stéphanie Danglade, across the three properties.
